In keeping with the chrome casing of the Nokia 8110, the director asked for a hybrid X-ray and Silver view of the phone.

By modelling the phone and it's circuitry in multiple layers, the phone was able to be rendered in multiple passes.

By combining the layers of 3D in the compositing stage, they could be treated as additive components, with further control over blur and grading for greater depth of field.

6 Layers of seperately built circuitry helps create a sense of depth and an X-Ray feel.
